Time management and incident lodgement
Scope:
Redesign a NSW Health mobile app used by staff to log unrostered time, such as overtime or callback hours – often required in unpredictable hospital settings like emergency departments. The previous app was built on an outdated platform and required a complete rebuild in React Native, with full adoption of Oracle Redwood branding.
Action:
I was tasked with redesigning the app for a React Native framework and adopting the Oracle Redwood design system within a mobile-first context. I created a bespoke UI that translated Redwood’s philosophy and design language into a seamless, accessible experience tailored for clinical staff. The new design supports streamlined workflows for logging extra hours or unscheduled tasks, making the process fast, intuitive, and reliable – even in high-pressure environments. I ensured that the redesign aligned with broader NSW Health digital ecosystem standards for consistency and future scalability.
Results:
The updated UROC app significantly improved user experience and task completion times, enabling staff to quickly log irregular hours without interrupting critical workflows. It supported better visibility of staff workload and compliance with labour regulations, promoting wellbeing through accurate tracking of out-of-roster work. The consistent use of Redwood branding also strengthened design cohesion across NSW Health’s digital platforms.
