Applying branding
Scope:
NSW Health uses Oracle as its core platform, but many custom-built internal web apps lacked visual consistency with the Oracle Redwood design language. I was tasked with redesigning the outdated Recruitment and Onboarding (ROB) system – an HR job application management tool – originally built on an unsupported platform. The goal was to modernise the user experience while aligning it with Oracle Redwood branding standards.
Actions:
I completely redesigned the user interface and experience, introducing a streamlined navigation system that allowed admin users to quickly scan, prioritise, and manage tasks. To standardise the look and feel across NSW Health’s custom apps, I developed the “NSW Health Custom Oracle Redwood Library” – a reusable set of HTML elements styled with Oracle Redwood aesthetics, built upon the NSW Government Digital Design System. This included a unified codebase and a centralised CSS layer to ensure brand and UI consistency across future projects.
Results:
The updated ROB system significantly improved user efficiency and clarity in task management. The component library I created became the foundation for all future custom web applications at NSW Health, saving development time, reducing visual inconsistency, and strengthening alignment with the broader Oracle ecosystem.
